Post-Op Week 59 Progress Report: Back to School Edition

Not surprised by this week’s gain for a couple of reasons.  One, I am retaining water (thanks, nature, you suck); two, I rested from gym workouts this week.  I was so sore from the leg workout I did last Saturday that I was in pain for most of the week, so I decided to give my body a break.  I literally could not move for the first 3 days post-workout without yelping in pain.  What was the source of this pain, you ask?  Squats up against the wall with a balance ball.  Because the leg press machine at my gym is hard on my back (it pushes very, very uncomfortably on the small of my back), I have resorted to doing balance ball squats instead to work my quads.  It’s a better workout anyway, since I’m basically leg pressing my body weight with every repetition, and this is heavier than any plates I could put on the leg press machine and move anyway.

Post-Op Week 56 Progress Report: Aiming at New Targets

Just like it is every month around this time…here’s the step back in this cha-cha of weight loss.  My ankles were puffy this morning despite being in bed for nearly 9 hours and downing over a gallon of fluid yesterday.  I’m not going to sweat it but that doesn’t make this any less frustrating.

Post-Op Week 45 Progress Report: Complacency is a Dangerous Thing

Slightly up on the scale this week, but not surprised.  The week following my period, I am always up a pound or two.  This is the pattern of lose-gain that I’ve noticed that my body slips into each month.  I think I may cut calories back to 1000-1100 this week since my hunger isn’t as intense the weeks after my period ends.  It’s only during that week that I feel like a bottomless pit.  I did also have a few too many calories yesterday (I was at nearly 1400) and a lot of sodium, so I know those two things didn’t help me today.

Post-Op Week 36 Progress Report: Tweaking the Program

This week’s progress was a surprise.  I lost what I’d gained last week due to water retention, and then a little extra.  I will note that I am still retaining water (stupid hormones; it’ll stop this week thank goodness), as my ankles are a little puffy and parts of me are still swollen.

As I move forward through my 8th month of post-op life into my 9th, I’ve decided it’s time to tweak things again to make this tool work to my advantage.  I have 73 pounds left to lose to get to my goal and 23 to get to my surgeon’s goal.
