Post-Op Week 91: What I Deserve

image

Funerals are a hell of a way to start a week.  Mourning + ovulation + work stress + general IDGAFery = up this week.  Thankfully, this week does not look to be terribly stressful, especially as side projects wind down and I can finally get back to the business of taking care of myself the way I deserve to.

This just keeping my head above water business isn’t cutting it, and I’m tired of just getting by.  That’s what it feels like I’ve done this year so far.  I deserve so much more than just getting by.  I don’t “just get by” in other areas of my life, so why when it comes to me is it acceptable?

Post-Op Week 65 Progress Report: Life Happens

This week sees me doing the weight loss cha-cha yet again.  The week was full of challenges stemming from the fact that we are currently a one vehicle household since my car decided last Monday that it had had enough and it was time for a permanent parking spot in the garage in the sky.  I was also dehydrated from yesterday’s trip to the State Fair, which saw me not drinking nearly as much water as I normally do.  But it also saw me walk nearly 6 miles without tiring, and most of that at a pretty good clip.  I couldn’t have done that last year.

Post-Op Week 60 Progress Report: Penny Days and Kettlebells

Progress this week is slow but I’ll take slow progress over no progress.  A pound lost is better than a pound gained.  Unfortunately, at this point, every pound is a fight to get off.  It’s like my body is trying to settle at this weight, which is really irritating.

Post-Op Week 57, Skinny Bitches and Dreaming the Impossible Dream…Weight

image

Down nearly a pound this week, but that’s the water retention from this past week subsiding.  I just want my belly not to stick out past my boobs, is that too much to ask??  I don’t care if I have the middle-aged lady pooch, I just don’t want to look like I have a beer gut!

I’m starting to think that my goal (170) might be unreachable, especially since I have been dancing around the same weight for the past month or so.  At this point, I will be glad to get down below 200 pounds to get to the vaunted “Onederland,” which is just 20 pounds away.  But losing that 20 pounds seems insurmountable.

Post-Op Week 40 Progress Report: New Goals and A Tiny Pony

This week’s progress was unexpectedly great.  I dropped a huge amount of weight, which I was not expecting to do given that I was retaining water all week long.  I skipped the gym this week, which happened because I wasn’t feelin’ it, and had a lot going on at work.  Instead, I did a lot of sitting on the balance ball while watching tv/working at my desk here at home.  Basically, if I was going to sit for more than 30 minutes, I made myself sit on the ball and try to stay on in an upright position.  It must have worked!  I am now only 13 pounds from my surgeon’s goal, which I am positive I can hit before school is out in June.  I am amazed that I am within striking distance of Dr. Nicholson’s expectation.  By the time my one-year follow-up appointment in July happens, I fully expect to have exceeded his expectation for my weight loss.

It should also be noted that in this picture, I am wearing smaller shorts and a smaller shirt.

This was a great week on the weight loss front.  Did not see the size of this loss coming, that’s for sure!

But I’ll take it.

In The Middle of Difficulty Lies Opportunity

Einstein said that, a really long time ago.  I never really gave it much thought until today.

Today, I was presented with a fantastic opportunity and I decided to seize on it.

The opportunity involves a birthday gift to myself.  Last year’s gift was pretty big, and I had been thinking about what I could give myself that was better than the gift I bought myself last year, because my sleeve is the gift that keeps on giving.  And that’s no joke.

Setting New Personal Bests

In my therapy session tonight, my therapist and I talked about how this past week was, and how I responded to the sameness of the scale from last week to this week.

I think I handled things better this week than I did last week but there is still much work to be done up here (tapping head).
