Post-Op Week 69 Progress Report: Self-Care Takes a Holiday

Discouraged this week by the slight uptick on the scale but this week was the week from hell.  Unfortunately this whole month looks to be that way.  This week, I fell down on the job of taking care of myself, and I let stress make choices for me that I wouldn’t have made otherwise.

The Price of Obesity: Orthopedic Issues

This is an x-ray of my knees taken today at my orthopedic surgeon’s office.   I went in today to have him look at my right knee, which I hurt last week and which was keeping me from walking and working out properly.

When the doctor finally came in to see me, after our initial pleasantries, his words to me were:

Your left knee actually looks worse on film.

Post-Op Week 63 Progress Report: Legs

This week’s progress is surprising.  I didn’t expect to lose this much!  Guess I am finally off the plateau I was on for so long.  Perhaps it is all the stairs I now take, or the fact that I’ve changed my supplementation a bit (I now take a potassium tablet and have increased my magnesium intake), or the fact that I walk so much more each day, and that when I walk, I walk very fast.

Post-Op Week 56 Progress Report: Aiming at New Targets

Just like it is every month around this time…here’s the step back in this cha-cha of weight loss.  My ankles were puffy this morning despite being in bed for nearly 9 hours and downing over a gallon of fluid yesterday.  I’m not going to sweat it but that doesn’t make this any less frustrating.
