Post-Op Week 81 Progress Report

image

Finally the scale is creeping downward and the holiday regain is about gone!  I’m hoping this continues.   Still struggling to get motivated to exercise though.  Perhaps I should focus on getting more sleep first, because the lack of sleep is hurting my want to exercise.  When I am tired, the last thing I want to do is work out.  I know I’m not sleeping enough but I have so many things I’m juggling right now that it’s hard to get them all done in the 24 hours I am given each day.

Post-Op Week 56 Progress Report: Aiming at New Targets

Just like it is every month around this time…here’s the step back in this cha-cha of weight loss.  My ankles were puffy this morning despite being in bed for nearly 9 hours and downing over a gallon of fluid yesterday.  I’m not going to sweat it but that doesn’t make this any less frustrating.

Post-Op Week 50: In Which I Plan for Vacation

image

Slightly up on the scale this week.  I think it’s probably due to the eating out that happened this week.  I need to dial that back this week as much as possible since we will be heading out of town at the end of the week, and eating out is mostly what we’ll be doing.  We will be at my mother in law’s for part of the time we’re gone, which is good because we’ll be eating at home pretty much all that time.  When we go visit, I generally do all the cooking because my MIL is arthritic and spending long periods of time on her feet, bending and stooping is really painful for her.  So I help out by cooking for all of us while we are there.  I also load up her freezer with pre-cooked meals so that all she has to do is reheat them.

But spending time there is also a bad thing because the only thing we tend to do while we’re visiting is sit, sit, sit, and sit some more.

Post-Op Week 46 Progress Report: Mental and Physical Aches and Pains

image

This week’s progress is good. With the adjustment in my calorie intake (I’m at 1100-1200 daily now), I’m still losing.  Slowly, but still losing.  It’s not a sprint, but a marathon, right?  I don’t care how long it takes to get there as long as I get there.

The past few weeks have been a real mental fight for me as behavioral fatigue is setting in big time.

Post-Op Week 45 Progress Report: Complacency is a Dangerous Thing

image

Slightly up on the scale this week, but not surprised.  The week following my period, I am always up a pound or two.  This is the pattern of lose-gain that I’ve noticed that my body slips into each month.  I think I may cut calories back to 1000-1100 this week since my hunger isn’t as intense the weeks after my period ends.  It’s only during that week that I feel like a bottomless pit.  I did also have a few too many calories yesterday (I was at nearly 1400) and a lot of sodium, so I know those two things didn’t help me today.

This week’s progress was good.  Unexpectedly so, even.

FATigue

Behavioral fatigue, I has it.

Behavioral fatigue is the official term for that time when you get tired of implementing a behavior so you start to slack off a little because you think, “Oh, but I’ve been doing this for so long and I’m just tired of it.”

But in all reality, it hasn’t been all that long.  It’s only been 8 months (including the time when I began the pre-op diet).
