The Temperamental Tum, Redux

Today was one of those days where my sleeve just could not get with the program consistently all day long.  Most days it’s pretty predictable.  Today, not so much.

This morning, I had breakfast.  Couldn’t finish it.  I generally can eat a whole egg and the accompanying meat with no problems and no being over-full.  Not today.

Lunch went down okay.  Steak was marinated and thus was very soft, and green beans were soft too so they went down all right.  But my gut was grumbly and rumbly right up until I had lunch, even though I’d eaten my mid-morning snack of a cheese stick and about 20 Goldfish crackers.

More grumbles and rumbles until I ate my afternoon snack of grilled chicken breast.  Got home from school, changed clothes and worked out.  Wasn’t feeling a full hour workout today, so I did a little over 40 minutes of bike and treadmill.

Got home, fixed supper.  Sat down to eat with hubby, and ate about half of my dinner and felt sick.  Like the food felt stuck, even though I’d chewed thoroughly.  I haven’t had this feeling at all since surgery, and have never had a feeling quite like this.  I spent the next hour and a half feeling pretty miserable, like I wanted to vomit, but didn’t (thank goodness, I freakin’ HATE puking).   I did burp quite a bit, though.  Not productive ones, just felt like a release valve had been opened and a bunch of gas left my tummy.  So I sat here at my desk, waiting to feel better and finally around 10:30 pm, I started to.

I’m not sure what caused my sleeve to act up, but boy…I sure don’t want it to happen again!  It wasn’t like I’d eaten anything out of the ordinary today–everything I ate today was something I’ve eaten before, and all are things I keep as staples in my fridge/freezer.  Perhaps the pasta sauce was too acidic for my sleeve–I did have issues with certain tomato varieties pre-op, so perhaps that is it.  Whatever it was that made me nearly violently ill, I don’t want it to happen again!

Today’s protein was 84 grams, fat at 46 grams and carbs at 28 grams.  I didn’t carb load before I worked out, but it’s probably better I didn’t since I didn’t do a super intense workout.  I’m hoping my tummy feels better in the morning because boy, it would suck to have to teach feeling the way I did for the better part of my evening.


Today’s food choices, from upper right: Trader Joe’s Monterey jack cheese stick; honey garlic marinated flank steak and Texas style green beans (HEB brand); whole grain Goldfish crackers; multivitamin and calcium supplements x2, iron supplement; grilled chicken breast; Trader Joe’s turkey meatballs in marinara with mozzarella (only ate half of what you see here); one-egg omelet with Kraft singles slice and Jimmy Dean maple turkey sausages (didn’t finish my breakfast).
